Going
Around Koh Lanta
If
you have not rented a car at Krabi Airport and decided to rent
one on Koh Lanta, it is possible to do so although the choice
of cars is limited. Lanta Car Rental (Tel: (66) 7568 4411) offers
Suzuki Carribean 4WDs. Rates start from BHT 1,200 until 2,200
per day.
Some high-end hotels offer cars for rent on their premises. In
addition, they offer a three-hour sightseeing tour of the island
by four-wheel-drive vehicles at only BHT2,500 for two persons.
A three-hour visit to Mu Ko Lanta National Park is BHT 1,000 for
two persons.
If you plan to
spend a lot of time diving, then don’t bother to rent a
car. Most diving outlets provide pick-up service from your accommodation.
For public transportation,
there are buses around the island. You may also look for a motorcycle
taxi which takes a passenger on the pillion and charges by distance.
There are also modified motorbikes with a carriage fitted with
passenger seats. Each motorbike taxi can take 2-4 passengers.
